SIGGRAPH – Creating a “Wow” First Impression

Challenge:  Siggraph, the world’s largest, most influential annual event in computer graphics and interactive techniques, wanted to provide a “wow” experience for their 5000 attendees at the Anaheim Convention Center (and create a great first impression).

Solution:  Siggraph created an Experience Hall to showcase the latest interactive technologies and used Lively as the experience first seen by attendees. As soon as people entered the hall, they saw a 20 foot screen with questions such as “What do you like best about Siggraph?” Audience responses became part of a 3D animated experience.

Result:  There were thousands of interactions during the three-day event, and attendees’ first impression of the show was extremely positive.

“LIVELY WAS AWESOME.  THE INTERACTIVITY DREW SOME BIG ATTENTION AND IT WAS REALLY SIMPLE TO USE.  IT’S A HUGE HIT FOR ANY AUDIENCE.”

New Bay Media – Adding Value to Sponsors

Challenge:  New Bay Media, a leading business information and event company, needed to add value to an important sponsor to solidify their participation for their marquis event, the On-Demand Summit.  This conference focuses on the content, marketing, measurement and revenue streams related to the dynamic businesses of On Demand and pay-per-view on television and video.

Solution and result:  New Bay used Lively to secure a $25,000 event sponsorship.  The client chose questions that reinforced their brand.  After each speaker, an engaging question was posed to the audience that related to the client’s branding (on-demand movies).  E.g. “Who Would Play You in a Movie?  Lively’s Dynamic Image feature was used, which generates images that relate to audience responses in real-time. For example, some responses texted in were “Brad Pitt” and “Meryl Streep.” Lively showed images of those actors next to audience responses, animating over background video.  Lively’s moderation tool was used review and approve comments and images before they were shown on-screen.  Participants also received a text message – sent on behalf of the sponsor by Lively – to visit the sponsor’s website.

“LIVELY DELIVERED AN INTERACTIVE SPONSORSHIP EXPERIENCE THAT RESONATED WITH BOTH ATTENDEES AND SPONSORS. IT MADE A BIG IMPACT, AND WAS REALLY EASY TO USE.”

Gearhart Law – Increasing Attendance and Making a Dry Topic more Lively

Challenge:  Gearhart Law, an intellectual property law firm serving the technology community, wanted to showcase their thought leadership at their annual Global Intellectual Law Symposium.

Events like this help Gearhart with business development, so increasing attendance and engaging participants was critical. They launched a marketing campaign to improve attendee sign-ups as it became closer to the event.

Solution and results: Gearhart promoted the Symposium as an “interactive event where your input will be front and center.” Examples of the planned audience interactivity, powered by Lively, were used in emails and social media which resulted in a 24% increase in event sign-ups vs. prior efforts that did not mention the interactivity.

At the event, several speakers were featured, including the former Ambassador to Cuba, but Gearhart realized that six hours of hearing panelists required something different.  They wanted to get as many attendees actively involved as possible.

Lively was used after each panel to get feedback on a single question: “What was the most important thing you learned?” This turned the event into a shared learning experience where all attendees could see the biggest takeaways of their colleagues. Open ended responses were shown on the screen, animating over a background video.  Lively’s contest feature was used, which gave every participant a chance of winning a Visa gift card.

2/3 of the 150 attendees actively participated with Lively during this event. Who says lawyers can’t have fun?

“AFTER WE MENTIONED LIVELY IN OUR EVENT AND MARKETING EMAILS, REGISTRATIONS REALLY PICKED UP. AT THE EVENT, PEOPLE WERE EXCITED TO PARTICIPATE.  I WOULD DEFINITELY USE LIVELY AGAIN.”

Software and Information Industry Association – Interactive Group Commenting

Challenge:   SIIA, the leading trade association for companies involved in the creation and delivery of business information, wanted to engage attendees during an awards luncheon at their annual Business Information Summit.

Solution:  Using Lively, the attendees congratulate the award winners, emerging leaders in the industry and offered their advice as part of a shared interactive experience in the general session.  Since the conference was in Orlando, SIIA showed audience feedback over a video of the beach (one of Lively’s built-in design templates).

“OUR ATTENDEES WERE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THIS TECHNOLOGY!  THEY WERE ABLE TO SEE EACH OTHER’S RESPONSES. AND IT’S SO EASY TO USE.”
